Beryl is a mineral composed of beryllium aluminium cyclosilicate and comes in many forms. Pure Beryl is colourless and is called Goshenite but due to impurities and inclusions of varying colours other gemstones are formed. These are listed below.   • Emerald is the green variety and is very popular.
  • Aquamarine is the blue to green variety with the lightest blue being the most popular.
  • Heliodor is the yellow to yellowish-green colour. It can also include light green, orange and brown varieties.
  • Golden Beryl is the golden yellow to orange yellow colour of Beryl.
  • Morganite is the pink to light purple variety named after the banker J P Morgan.
  • Red Beryl otherwise known as Bixbite is very rare and therefore expensive. It can only be found in two locations in Utah.
