Sapphire is a variety of Corundum, an aluminium oxide mineral. Blue is considered Sapphire’s “true” colour and is the most recognised, though Sapphire does come in a range of colours. Sapphire is the stone of wisdom. Blue Sapphire ranges from pale to deep azure or royal blue, to indigo, with the most highly desired colour being the velvety cornflower blue, known as Kashmir or bleu de roi. It is good for working with the Throat and Third Eye chakras. Black Sapphire brings the wisdom of confidence in one’s own intuition. It is protective and grounding and relieves anxiety and sorrow. It is good for working with the Base Chakra. Green Sapphire brings the wisdom of fidelity and integrity, encouraging compassion for others and stimulating dream recall. It is good for working with the Heart Chakra.
